Scan rows, columns, and 2×3 blocks
After every placement, update your mental picture: that digit is now forbidden in its row, column, and block. Because blocks are 2×3, a single clue often squeezes two rows or two columns at once — use that overlap.
Turn on notes early
Candidates are tiny truth tables. When only one digit remains possible in a cell, you have a naked single. Keep notes fresh; stale marks cause more mistakes than missing fancy patterns.
Resist guessing
If you cannot explain why a digit belongs, pause. Walk a row with a missing 3, or a block that still needs a 5. Our puzzles are built with one logical solution — backtracking mentally “to see what happens” often creates rework.
Use hints as lessons
After a hint, ask what unit made that digit forced. Over time you spot the same forcing without the button.
